Default What is this forum about?

Forgive my apparent ignorance, but I thought this forum was about
"Rec.Outdoors.RV-Travel". IMHO we should stay on topic and air our
opinions about politics, religion, etc. on forums where those topics
are of interest. My personal interest is, in so far as this google
group is concerned, is in camping, outdoor recreation, and RV-ing.
That's why I subscribed to this forum.

I share my opinions about other topics such as auto mechanics,
politics, religion, cooking, beer making, etc. in other groups
regarding those particular topics. I find very little info about
"Rec.Outdoors.RV-Travel" in this forum. I find more information in
other forums where participants have a genuine interest in and
discussion of topics that are relevant to recreation, outdoors
adventure and RV travel. I wish the same could be said of this google
group.

Perhaps this google group should be renamed "Debate any subject, flame
our participants for sharing their opinions, and sometimes discuss
Rec.Outdoors.RV-Travel".

Thanks for reading my post and have a great day!

B.

Prediction: Over the next few hours you will become "educated" as to what
this forum is about, and if you continue to argue your point, by the end of
the day you will be blocked by about 99% of the regulars here.

The solution starts at home, use kill files and kill anything that
starts with the Off Topic line. Never post to one of those threads and
ignore them.

As I said to the last person to post this whine (just two days ago):

If you don't want to read off topic stuff, just filter "OT" - problem
solved.

If you want to read more on topic RV related stuff, start a conversation.

If you just want to bitch and whine, take it up with your wife - nobody here
cares.

First of all it is NOT a Google Group. It's been a Usenet newsgroup for
well over a decade. Google picks up Usenet groups for the sake of those
who can't comprehend that there was something in existence prior to the
World Wide Web's popularity.

Second, many of us have been here for years, posting RV-related material
and just hanging around as friends often do. We enjoy sharing things
with each other and seeking different opinions on world matters and
other things not RV related. It's been like this forever and many of us
don't appreciate newbies handing us our hats for the way we conduct our
friendships.

Third, if you don't like this group, I respectfully suggest that you
Google someplace more to your liking. There are various moderated RV
forums around. The moderators make sure the postings are on topic. They
might be more to your liking.

Good-bye.

Dear Bozo:

The net nanny position for this newsgroup is already taken. Since you
appear to be unaware that you have submitted your application to a
newsgroup it is unlikely that you will ever be seriously considered
for the position of nanny for this group but please feel free to
reapply at some future date.

Your ignorance is hereby forgiven.

Yours truly,
R.J.(Bob) Evans

*sigh* Another one.

First off, this isn't a "google group". This is Usenet, a service the
long predated even the internet. The google guys probably hadn't even
been born yet. Google provides an archive and a mediocre web
interface but that's it.

Second and more important, your attitude is the very antithesis of any
freedom-loving American. "I don't like what you say so shut up".

Your choice is to ignore what you don't like or leave. In the case of
this group, you have a powerful tool to help you ignore what you don't
like in the form of Usenet reader agents with good filtering or to use
the traditional term, "killfile". You will, of course, have to get
off Google and get a good reader. Agent is good but not free. Mozilla
Thunderbird is both free and good.

If you find it unpleasant to ignore things you don't like, as do I,
then you simply filter those things out. The Usenet equivalent of
sticking your fingers in your ears. And people who generate that
trash are also filtered, known as "plonking". The Usenet version of
walking away from an asshole you don't like.

Amazingly enough, from where I sit this group's content IS mostly
about RVs. I filter out all political crap and quickly killfile
people who generate it. I also filter whiners such as yourself which
is why you'll feel the plonk right after I post this.

Grow up, quit whining, get a good Usenet reader and start a thread
about RVs. Or just leave. Doesn't matter a bit to me and probably
most everyone else here.
